ANGER MANAGEMENT

This one could have been an “A”.
Anger Management had a great premise, and it had Adam Sandler, who I generally like, and Jack Nicholson, who is always great. It even had Marisa Tomei who’s so incredibly adorable! And there are laughs to be had; plenty actually.
But despite all that, the bad outweighed the good.

Adam Sandler plays a pretty mellow guy who is wrongly accused of having rage issues and is forced into Anger Management sessions with a psycho doctor, played to the hilt by Nicholson. Sandler is good here, but Nicholson is really great. I mean, I kinda hated his character, but he plays him with such vigor…he’s a sight to behold. At times I recalled The Witches of Eastwick where old Jack plays The Devil himself…at times in this movie, with the scruffy goatee and the trademark arched eye brows…there really was an almost Satanic glee in his face!
And Marisa does a nice job of being just a little more than just the “love interest”, though unfortunately that’s really all she is.
A definite plus is that Sandler uses some of his old stand-bys that seem to inhabit all of his films, and there are some cool cameos and smaller roles too, like John C. Reilly, Luis Guzman and John Turturro.

Unfortunately for me, the movie was just too much. Some of the stuff was just so way over the top, I dunno, it annoyed me.
But to be fair, that aspect of the film may be just what people are expecting and what they want, so this might be a big hit.
