BALLS OF FURY

Balls Of Fury was a big disappointment.
I really thought I’d be seeing something that was, stupid, yes, but also really funny.
Unfortunately, it was mostly stupid with not too much funny!

Dan Fogler stars as a ping pong has been, lured by the FBI to infiltrate a super secret bad guy hang out, because said bad guy is a ping pong freak who holds “Bloodsport” type underground tournaments. Dan Fogler is OK in the role, but I was distracted by his appearance. He looks as if you took Jack Black, Tim Curry, and Vincent D’Onofrio, and put them in a blender. But he did OK. George Lopez plays the FBI agent, and he did OK too, but I feel for him. His show gets cancelled with no warning, and then he appears in this movie. Sorry.
Christopher Walken plays the bad guy, and, well, sorry, he sucks here.
OK, maybe he doesn’t suck, but the character does, and Walken’s signature weirdness can’t overcome.
Sad.

There’s also a semi-hottie by the name of Maggie Q. Decent actress, good moves, very pretty, but needs a sandwich, or seven.

This movie seems to be from the Reno 911 folks, as one their cast directed it, and another appears on screen, so maybe that should have warned me away, since I can’t get into that show at all.
But oh well. I really just wanted a laugh. Sigh…
