CATCH ME IF YOU CAN

Leonardo DiCaprio
Tom Hanks
Steven Spielberg
Well, I guess even unknowns get to make movies nowadays.

Having just seen Leonardo DiCaprio in a movie I really didn’t like at all, GANGS OF NEW YORK, it was good to see him in an enjoyable, kinda fun flick.
It’s hard to believe that this is based on a true story. But yeah, Leo’s character, Frank Abagnale Jr. is the real deal, and this movie is based on his book about his life.
DiCaprio does a great job here, portraying Abagnale as a very likable guy. He’s very believable, and to be honest, until now I really didn’t think he could truly carry a movie.
But he did so and did it well.

Tom Hanks is in a smaller role than usual for him, but still, there’s no denying he’s Tom Hanks. He’s really good as the FBI agent tracking down Abagnale. After ROAD TO PERDITION, this smaller role is a great way to show his versatility.

The great Christopher Walken is also in this film, and I must say it was surprising to see him so subdued. But his character is still a bit of an eccentric…

When I think of Steven Spielberg, I think of a great director with great big hits.
Well, I don’t think this movie feels truly “Spielbergian”, but he did a nice job of storytelling. Catch Me IF You Can might not be one of his more serious flicks, but it sure is entertaining.
