DESPICABLE ME

So I saw Despicable Me despite having had pretty much lost any interest I had in it. I should have followed my instincts, because while it didn’t suck, and a few times I was impressed, for the most part it proved to be a rental.

Steve Carrel plays Gru, a lifetime criminal mastermind who wants to be the ultimate criminal of all time. Jason Segel plays Vector, an upstart criminal who’s quickly becoming a bigger deal than Gru. Russel Brand plays Dr Nefarious, Gru’s long time scientist / engineer guy. It’s business as usual until three orphan sisters get in the mix. You can figure out the rest.

Like I said, Despicable Me is a rental. It has some funny moments and also some sweet moments that make this kid / family fare, and not a cool flick, like I first thought it could be when I first saw the teaser way back when. Oh well. I’m sure it will be a hit with the kids, and those adorable, inexplicable lil minions that work for Gru are already all over TV. So, yeah, that’s about that for that…
