Yes, another review where I say that I had lost interest in seeing the movie before I saw it.
Sorry, but it’s true.

When I first saw a teaser about Fred Claus, just the fact that it had both Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti was enough to make me excited to see it.
The closer it came to being released, my interest fizzled down to nothing.
The fact that it got such bad advance word definitely didn’t help.
But the fam wanted to see it, and I figured it couldn’t be that bad, so there you go.
Well, it turns out it wasn’t THAT bad…but that’s hardly a ringing endorsement.

Yes, Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti are both very good, as is Kevin Spacey, but he is so unlikable in the movie, it doesn’t matter. Elizabeth Banks and Miranda Richardson are both wasted in their throw away roles, and Rachel Weisz…Rachel Weisz?!?
Why is she in this movie?
She is way too good for a minimal love interest role! What was she thinking?

So yeah, Fred Claus doesn’t suck, but it’s hardly a holiday classic.
