KILL BILL
(Volume One)

vi’ o-lent adj.
1 acting with or having great physical force
2 caused by violence
3 KILL BILL

Wow, Quentin Tarantino has made one humdinger of a revenge flick.
Kill Bill Volume One may be one of the coolest movies ever made.
Seriously.

Uma Thurman stars as a former assassin who is betrayed and left for dead by her associates.
She comes back with a vengeance, and to quote the hallowed words of “Good Old J.R.”, “THE CARNAGE IS UNGODLY!”
Tarantino really put together a great flick here. If I remember correctly, he basically had a four hour flick on his hands, so he cut it into two volumes, with Volume Two coming a few months later…
This movie is way, way, way over the top, but it’s inventive and modern and retro and funny but sad but shocking and did I mention way over the top? It’s so over the top, that the overwhelming violence somehow, doesn’t seem so overwhelming. And it’s so well made…

Uma Thurman is simply amazing in this flick. My God, but she must have trained forever to get so adept at, well, violence! Her acting and her physicality is spot on and damn it, if it were up to me, I’d hand her an Oscar right now. Lucy Liu and Vivica A. Fox are both very good in roles we’re not used to seeing them in. Julie Dreyfus is very yummy and screams nicely when needed, as well she should. And Chiaki Kuryama is very disturbing, and creepy, and dangerous, but kinda cute. But this is all Uma all the time and again, she is amazing!

I applaud Quentin Tarantino on a very entertaining instant classic.
I can’t wait for KILL BILL Volume Two !
