KNOCKED UP

Judd Apatow, the writer – director of THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN does it again with Knocked Up, another hilarious but kinda sweet movie.

Knocked Up stars Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen as an unlikely pair that have a one night stand that results in... well the title says it all. The film follows the ups and downs of the couple as they try to make things work.
Katherine Heigl does a really great job as Allison, a reporter fro the “E!” Network whose career is on the rise. I found her portrayal and the character very likable.
Seth Rogen plays Ben, who’s kind of a goofball and pretty much a slacker, and way too much of a stoner for his character to be likable, but somehow, Rogen pulls it off.

Allison’s uptight sister is played very well by Leslie Mann whose husband is played by Paul Rudd. Rudd’s a great actor, and he does really well here too. Rudd and Rogen both had supporting roles in Virgin, so it was cool to see that Apatow gave them bigger, more important roles here.

Rogen also has a bunch of fellow stoner slacker pals, and while some of their stuff is a bit much, they usually get a ton of laughs. I thought it was very cool that two of them, Jason Segel and Martin Starr (along with Rogen himself) were all part of Apatow’s cult classic TV show, Freaks And Geeks. The same show also introduced me to James Franco and Linda Cardinelli…That show really had some cool people on it!
Knocked Up is in no way based on reality, but it’s a fun ride, with a lot of hilarious, laugh out loud moments. It may not be as completely fulfilling as Virgin, but it comes close.
