MATRIX RELOADED

See, as much as I loved the first Matrix, I just had a feeling that Matrix Reloaded couldn’t live up to the hype. Let’s face facts…since the first one came out, it has been copied and imitated so much that anything that came afterwards would basically be considered a rip off. So why would the sequel not be held accountable as well?

As I started watching the movie, I thought my fears were realized. I wasn’t feeling it. The action seemed force, and Zion seemed to be a slightly more spiritual South Beach, complete with beautiful people and rhythmic gyration.

But then the Wachowski Brothers kicked into second gear, and Fucking A folks, Matrix Reloaded kicked my ass.
The returning cast led by Keanu Reeves, Carrie Ann Moss, and Laurence Fishburne are all excellent, as they were in the first film. The new additions to this flick all work nicely too, especially Jada Pinkett Smith and Harold Perrineau, but I must admit that I was a little disappointed with Monica Bellucci’s role. I knew very little about this movie going in, so I didn’t know about the size of her role. I also don’t think I’ve ever heard her speak in English, and her accent was kind of off-putting.
But maybe that’s just me.
And, well, Hugo Weaving. Well, you know, damn.
Keanu Reeves really owns this flick though, as he kicks ass in performance, and because his character Neo is just totally awesome here. Some of his action sequences border on the cartoonish, but for the most part they are amazing. I don’t know how the Wachowski Bros. and all the other geniuses behind the scenes managed to make this one bigger and better than the first, but I think they did. I do have some complaints, but you know what, I'm loathe to get into them, especially because to do so would be spoiler-threatening.
So I will say thatMatrix Reloaded is a really entertaining, at times jaw dropping flick, and we can all look forward to Matrix Revolutions in six short months!
