STAR TREK
NEMESIS

Boring.
Unfortunately, that’s the best word I can use to describe Star Trek Nemesis.
I mean, yeah, I hate Sci-Fi, so maybe I shouldn’t have seen this anyway, but I liked First Contact, and I’ve seen a few of the Next Generation episodes, and this one looked really dark in the trailer and I thought there was some vampiric looking people in it and so I figured that I’d see it.
Bummer.

The entire main cast of the TV series returns for this flick, which will likely be the last ST film for them. I dunno who will be featured in any future movies, but with the exception of Deep Space Nine, none of the other shows / casts interest me. I probably wouldn’t even be very into a DSP movie anyway.

Data himself, Brent Spiner, co-wrote the story, and “Old Yellow Eyes” himself is fairly important to the story. (By the same token it’s obvious Wil Wheaton had no hand in the writing process, as his character is only partially onscreen for about two seconds.)
I have no problem with Spiner, and find the Data character endearing, but why they included so many close ups on his face is beyond me. I mean, did they really want to show how much this android has aged? I dunno, maybe I’m the only weirdo who thought about that, but then again, consider the source.

There are small things I like about this movie, but for the most part, I was really bored, and basically uninterested. I would venture to guess that hardcore ST fans will like it much more than I. I realize they’re a loyal bunch and they care about the characters, so they will feel more involved, but it didn’t work for me.
