Wow, what an unfunny, disturbing movie. If you think you’re gonna be seeing a laugh riot, sorry. Observe and Report is an unpleasant experience.

Seth Rogen plays a wanna be cop who is the head of security at a busy mall. I will admit that though Rogen’s character was thoroughly unlikable in this movie, he did a good acting job, and possibly for once didn’t play “Seth Rogen”.

Observe and Report was written and directed by Jody Hill, the co-writer and director of Foot Fist Way which starred Danny McBride, who has a cameo here. Fist was an awkward, uncomfortable comedy of sorts, but it felt like a comedy. This movie is I guess a black comedy? Dark comedy? I dunno, but there’s very little comedy in it. It’s just bleak and ugly and made me feel uncomfortable.
If that’s what they were going for, hey, congrats.
But if this was supposed to be entertainment…fail.
