SKY CAPTAIN
AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW

Kerry Conran definitely gets an “A” for effort!
But it all goes down hill from there.

I probably shouldn’t have seen Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I knew going in that it wasn’t my thing. But I couldn’t help but be curious about how Kerry Conran pulled it off…a movie where the actors are real, but most of the sets and all of the backdrops are completely CGI. And the film boasts four talented actors…Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Giovanni Ribisi…so I figured I had to see it.

Well, Conran bit off more than he could chew. Yes, he created a cool world where 1930’s serials meet old school comics meet classic film noir and sci –fi classics, but all that matters not when you’re bored outta your skull.
And I was.
Sorry.

I know he did something special and deserves mucho kudos for getting as far as he did, but somehow, my jaded mind just didn’t care.
It didn’t work for me.

The cast did their best with what they were given, but in the end, Sky Captain, for me, was a great idea that just didn’t work out.
