I JUST GOTTA VENT
OCTOBER 2005

Sunday, October 30, 2005

The only upside of dealing with Fucking Wilma The Hurricane (and any hurricane) is that when all is said and done, and things slowly return to normal, you really come to appreciate the little things you usually take for granted.
I for one am very thrilled with the slow but sure "return to normalcy"...

Unfortunately I can't really relax as work promises to be very ugly this coming week, a result of both Fucking Wilma and mre, ugly coincidence. It's gonna be a bitch...

Fucking Wilma.
I had no idea she'd be such a bitch.
But as Hurricanes go, I think she was the scariest one I can remember.
I know, I know, Andrew, Andrew, Andrew!
But Andrew happened in the dark.
And Andrew barely touched my house.
Wilma happened in the day time, so we can see the damage as it happened, especially the aluminum terrace roof being peeled away, taking a small chuck of the house roof with it.
Not fun.
And I also hate the fact that my 2006 car is all scratched up now because of all the debris that kept crashing into it.
Fucking Wilma.
But I know, we were lucky.
Fucking Wilma...

My Dad's been out of the hospital since Saturday, only to be home in time to have Wilma take out his house's power and telephone service. Almost a week in the hospital, and now this.
Fucking Wilma.

My Dad had to be taken to the hospital 3:30 Sunday night / Monday morning.
Turns out he had a heart attack.
No one knew.

He has a defibrillator in his chest, and that most likely saved his life.
Now he's in ICU, and we have to decide whether to try to fix the heart, at the expense of his ever weakening kidneys, or let nature take it's course and hope for the best.
Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.

Not to be too flippant, but C.O.F. said it best when they said, "Thank God for the Suffering"...

I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed lately.
I'm not sure why exactly, but I'm pretty sure I know why overall.
I'm trying to stay positive about things...
Here's to hoping...

In the meantime, finished Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys. Good stuff.
Gaiman's not for every one, but when he's good, he's really good.
Just started The Historian which has gotten a whole lotta buzz.
Sort of a new take on Dracula, but very much set in the real world.
I hope it's good. I just started, but it's cool so far...

Dolphins are 2-2.
Not terrible, but not great.
Hope they don't implode...

So there seems to be an exotic snake invasion going on down here in South Florida.
Too many people (idiots, really) buy small boas and pythons and when they get too big, they go dump them in the Everglades. Geniuses. Exotic snakes have no place in the Everglades! Really gonna screw up the ecological balance. I wouldn't be surprised if soon enough one of them out there in the swamp getting fat on birds and small deer gets to be some 25, 30 feet long...

Fucked up bad.
We'll see how this one ends up...
