I JUST GOTTA VENT
JULY 2008

I call them the Memory Demons, and I've written about them before. When I lay in bed trying to sleep and forget, they creep into my mind and start the slide show of memories that I do not want to think about. Slide show? No, this is live action. A clip show. Let's call it "AJ's Most Painful Moments: Caught on Tape". Once it gets started it's hard not to dwell on it, get lost in it. Re-live it. Over and over.

My Father would have been 75 years old today.
Happy Birthday Dad. I truly hope you are in a better place.

I've been wanting to write something...creative...but it aint happening. Nothing bubbles to the surface. It doesn't help that all day today I've been in a mood, down, grumpy, depressed. You know, whatever, status quo.
But I get so tired of my own angst and bullshit...my anger issues, even though the Doc Lady says she doesn't consider me to have anger management issues, at least based on the stories and issues I relate to her. I think I'm pretty open and honest with her, so who knows. Maybe what I see as anger management issues because I get mad at everything and have like zero tolerance for just about every one and every thing is really nothing more than the fact that I'm a Grade A Asshole.

OK, I'm not a political person, but I think the New Yorker cover depicting Michelle Obama as a terrorist and Barack Obama as a Muslim standing in a room where the American flag burns in the fireplace is WAY wrong. Yes, I get it. The New Yorker is a saavy, intellectual mag catering to smart people and the image is actually slamming the closed minded ignorant fucks that actually see the Obamas as the image depicts, but the problem is that a lot of society IS made up of those ignorant people. For them, seeing that magazine cover is just reinforcement of the stereotypes. The brass behind the New Yorker HAD to know that. They had to know that only a small percentage of the hoi polloi would understand that the image is a satirical comment. Hell, even McCain's people are slamming the cover as wrong.
Whatever. Long live Freedom of Speech, but get it right, people!
