WHERE HAVE ALL
THE GOOD SONGS GONE?

Hotel California?
Stairway To Heaven?
Tom Sawyer?
Where have all the good songs gone?

Because Miami radio sucks, I listen to a lot of my CDs. But if I don’t have a CD on, I’m probably switching back and forth between 93 Rock (the Pure Rock Station), and 105.9 (The Classic Rock Station). I prefer 93 Rock, but for some reason, they insist on playing a lot of early 90s grungy stuff that I kinda hate. Still they’re pretty good.
The Classic station is pretty good too, but they play a lot of stuff that I have an issue with referring to as “Rock”. Whatever.

ANYWAY, on the Classic station they do play some songs that will never go out of style. Songs like those listed above. True classics that are timeless. Stuff from Styx and Kansas and Foreigner and Pink Floyd and ZZ Top and OLD SCHOOL Van Halen, etc.
I like a lot of today’s music, but nothing new comes close to be “a new classic”.
Where have all the good songs gone?

I’m curious as to what are today’s equivalents of the songs listed above?
There are none, are there? Don’t get me wrong, I listen to a lot of new, current stuff, and I like it all a lot. One of my favorites currently is Coheed & Cambria, and though they’re pretty new, their stuff almost sounds old school. But as much as I like them, I can’t say that any of there stuff will stand the test of time, you know?

Even Metal classics from the likes of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Priest and OLD SCHOOL Metallica…even though many newer bands are directly influenced by those bands, to my knowledge (and taste) nothing matches the originals.

So I ask again, where have all the good songs gone?
