Ah, Kevin Smith. His words fit like a comfortable glove. Hilarious, and vulgar, and very, very comfortable.
Yes Kevin Smith is back with the raucous but sweet Zach & Miri Make a Porno, a great, funny, and very dirty movie about love and finances. When the cost of living gets too high for two lifelong friends, Zach, played with his usual casualness by Seth Rogen convinces Miri, played nicely by Elizabeth Banks, that they can make a porn movie.

It can be said that Seth Rogen plays himself in this movie, or at least, the same guy he plays in all his movies, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do a good job. Elizabeth Banks is more convincing, and shows a broader range, and she’s great. Her laugh is kind of infectious. Together the two share a nice chemistry.

Costarring in Smith’s flick, Jason Mewes and Jeff Anderson, both of who are best known from previous Smith movies. Mewes disturbed me a bit, but I won’t say why. Craig Robinson from The Office is really good as Rogen’s coworker who also gets pulled into the porn business. He has great delivery and timing. Traci Lords is pretty good in the movie too, but she kind of disturbed me as well…

Oh, and Brandon Routh and Justin Long have a memorable scene in the movie, but I don’t wanna give anything away here…

So Kevin Smith made a Kevin Smith movie. It’s not gonna win any Oscars, but it’s classic Kevin Smith, and that’s good enough for me. Just be aware that this movie is a STRONG rated R. You’ve been warned. Now enjoy!
