MATRIX REVOLUTIONS

I felt a strange obligation to see Matrix Revolutions.
But no real desire.

I was very impressed with MATRIX RELOADED, but maybe the cliffhanger ending just rubbed me the wrong way. So I was in no hurry to see this final installment. I’m glad I did see it, but I wasn’t as impressed this time around.
A definite plus for the film is all the time spent with “The Oracle”, and the pseudo-explanation for her change in appearance. (Off-screen the original actress passed away, so a new actress was brought in to finish the trilogy.) Another plus are the scenes with “Neo” and “Trinity”. Keanu Reeves might not be Olivier, but as Neo he’s always dead on. Carrie Ann Moss still kicks ass as Trinity, and when it comes time to be more tender, her eyes speak volumes. Nice.

The biggest plus would have to be Hugo Weaving as the ever-present Agent Smith. I’m not really sure I like how they handled him, but Weaving’s performance was awesome. I wonder what the future holds for this talented actor…

My biggest problem with Matrix Revolutions is that it seemed much more Sci Fi than it’s predecessors. That probably sounds really stupid, but hey, consider the source. I guess there were just too many machines and robots and fighter ships for my taste.
I’m also not sure how I feel about the resolution, but to comment much further would hinge on the dreaded spoiler…

Oh, and my but did Ms Bellucci not look absolutely stunning in her all too brief appearance.
Not of this Earth, that one…

So anyway, that’s it. The Great Matrix Trilogy is now complete and geeks all over the world will now look elsewhere for their next big fix. All in all, it was a pretty great ride.
Here’s to the future…
