SCARY MOVIE 4

I didn’t really wanna see Scary Movie 4, mostly because I thought Number THREE was pretty bad, but also because I hadn’t seen the three movies it parodies most, Saw, War of the Worlds, and The Grudge. It also spoofed THE VILLAGE which obviously I did see, and even Fahrenheit 9-11 or just President Bush, depending on how you look at it. But I did see it because I had my girlfriend's kids to entertain on Good Friday (I think I’m going to Hell) and they wanted to see it.
During and afterwards I felt right guilty about taking a nine year old, as SM4 is rather raunchy for PG-13, but oh well, too late now.

Anna Faris and Regina Hall are the only original cast members back to make us laugh, even though Hall’s character died in number three, but whatever…these wacky comedies have their own laws of chaos and order. Well, mostly chaos.
ANYWAY, here they hook up with Craig Bierko doing a wicked parody of Tom Cruise as they try to save the world from a convoluted and silly mix of Saw and War of the Worlds.
Does it work?
Not really, but who cares.
Whether it deserves laughs or not, there is laughter to be had, all very broad and extremely low brow. Quality and taste is no where to be found in this flick, but I think that’s just fine with director David Zucker.
I have a feeling that’s just what he wants.
And judging from the huge opening weekend Scary Movie 4 had at the box office, apparently so does everybody else.
