Well, in a bit of good news, Icon's last visit to the Vet showed some improvement.
It seems the meds are doing their part to help.
He's not out of the woods yet, but it's a step in the right direction.
We'll see what happens from here...
Despite my troubles with my poor dog Icon, I went ahead and kept my previously made plans to go outta town with my friend The Chuban. We went to Tampa Friday night and spent most of Saturday in Disney World.
You know, it's not really "The Happiest Place On Earth" when all you think about is your sick dog and your only traveling companion is The Chuban. But then, I'm sure he feels the same way about me...
Prolly the highlight of the whole thing was that the car rental place kept me waiting so long that they ended up upgrading me from the "compact car" I reserved to a brand new convertible Mustang, at the same price!
I've never driven a convertible. That was fun.
And that car only has like, oh, I dunno, 5 times the power my shiddy little car has, so it was all good!
Anyway, it was nice to see my sister and the kids again too. We went to a place called Barnacles and ate and played pool. I think that was The Chuban's highlight...wall to wall chikkies. Wow.
Anyway, hopefully I'll know more about my dog and the future later on this week...
I met the cutest puppy yesterday.
Speaking of dogs, I'm taking ICON to the vet today.
Here's to hoping...
Fucking Marlins.
Actually, they HAVE been losing.
Tonight is the final test to see if their glass slipper has indeed shattered...
You know, I've neglected to mention that I got the new Iron Maiden CD, Dance Of Death. Good stuff. Solid Maiden. Very true to themselves. I like it a lot.
But you know who's really been kicking my ass lately?
They're called Opeth, and they are too cool.
They're like part "growlers", but part, almost ethereal, haunting...almost beautiful progressive rock. Even the growling is slightly subdued. I've been aware of them for about a year now. At this point I have everything they've put out in the 2000's, but I think they have more stuff out there. I really like it a lot...
I also gave into curiosity and got The Darkness' Permission To Land.
These guys are getting some hype because they're very retro and look (and sound)like a 70's glam rock band, a la Queen (they've been called the Straight Queen, though I don't think they're worthy...yet). I'll give it a chance to grow on me, all the while pondering just how we made it all the way to 2003 without somebody already taking the so obviously cool name of, The Darkness.
Fucking Marlins.
Funny how so many "fans" there are now...
A very cool person lent me a very cool book, Absolute Zero. It goes over my head at times (what doesn't?) and it's a little TOO brilliant, but still, it's very good, and very interesting...
So looks like one of Roy's tigers decided to remind him that it is, and will always be a scarily wild animal, no matter how many hoops you teach it to jump through. I have nothing against Roy, and I hope he recovers and all, but well, to use an old cliche, you shouldn't fuck with Mother Nature. Tigers are amazingly beautiful creatures, and I'm sure both Roy and his partner Siegfreid (sp?)truly do love all their animal costars, but to be honest, I'm surprised this hadn't already happened long ago...
Met a very nice person over the weekend. Well, actually met in person.
She's sweet, and I hope I didn't upset her too much...
Meanwhile, I feel more lost than usual.
Go figure.
